Reference Notes

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. Romans 6:3-5

Baptism is a part of our accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior and it should be done because it is part of the teachings of Jesus.  Along with the baptism comes a promise that Christ will always be with us even till the end of the age.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."     (Matthew 28:19-21)

He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.  (Mark 16:16)
